Hmm, I know of several applications which work the other way around
(e.g. Shift-delete for a word, Control-delete for a line). I prefer
to think of Control as the more 'powerful' key, and Shift as the less
powerful. I guess this is because Shift is used in normal typing, and
Control is a special extra key. Alternate is thus even more powerful still.
